What is Montessori?
Maria Montessori was an Italian physician and educator who believed that learning is active, not passive. She developed an educational method that follows children’s natural curiosity and gives them the freedom to explore their interests, allowing them to learn by doing.
A common misconception is that Montessori is just for preschoolers. In fact, Montessori principles are applicable in all learning environments and Statesville Montessori proudly serves students through 8th grade. These students enter high school well-prepared with strong academics and advanced personal learning skills.
